SK Hynix, IBM Team up for PCRAM

SK Hynix announced a joint development agreement and technology license agreement with IBM to develop PCRAM (Phase Change Random Access Memory) technology, according to a June 11, 2012 report by ZDNet Asia. PCRAM is reported to be the next generation memory chips and capable of storing large amount of data. The collaboration is projected to cope with rising popularity of Smartphones and tablet PCs. Meanwhile, SK Hynix has begun cooperation with Toshiba on MRAM (Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory) development since 2011. MRAM technology packs memory together more densely.
